I was thinking of making an AU fic where Tomoko doesn't get a harem and was still the loner she was at the beginning of the series. Though she would still get some of the character development that she had in the manga's later stages. The story would have the humor of the pre-Kyoto era of Watamote and a less bloated cast.
I would focus more on Tomoko's awkward situations and her character development while she tries to find ways to overcome her social anxiety. She would have a much less cynical look on life due to said development and have a little kinder attitude. She and Tomoki would have much more time together and treat each other slightly less like shit (much more understanding about the others problems while still bickering once in a while). She also will talk to her family more and get some nice moments with them.
There's also Tomoko's middle school friends Yu and Kotomi. Yu will have much more depth given to her character than she did in the manga. While Kotomi will be brought back to her original characterization as Tomoko's foil/rival while becoming more freindly towards Tomoko as the series goes on. She'll also have a mere innocent crush on Tomoki rather than boderline stalker crush.
Yoshida would also be in this story as the first true (and probably only if not counting Kotomi) friend that Tomoko makes in her school. Like Kotomi, she'll also go back to her original characterization as a scary looking delinquent that's actually kinda nice a not too violent. I'd make her a loner like Tomoko (I'd use Hitomi-chan as a little basis) and a little bit of a westaboo to contrast with Tomoko's otaku nature
These are the characters I've gone into detail for this, but here a some other characters that would appear:
Maro (dog)
Megumi
Kosaka
Shizuku
Ogino
Aomatsu (combined with Kakinuma)
Hina and Akane (as extras)
Shizuku
Hatsushiba
and Ki chan
Characters I wouldn't add:
Yuri
Asuka
Ucchi
Kiyota
Mako
Minami
Shiki
Hikari
Akari
Sayaka
Reina and Anna
The emoji gang (in general)
Sachi
and Wada

Why is she so relatable is it just me?? I am confused. Also Kuroki is hot. If Tomoko uses different pronouns please tell me.
Whats the difference between it and the other manga? is it canon? why are there two different ones?
Is it just me, or does Tomoko remind me a lot of Chris Chan?
after the anime ends where do I start reading the manga from
i read the manga lol
On the 'Anime adaption' page it mentions the chapters used for the anime and the OVA but the OVA chapters are not highlighted on the chart on the page for some reason. If anyone knows the chapters used in the ova could they add them, please?
I mean - IGNORE ME!!! Figured I could post some thoughts here without polluting the greater wiki.
Had a real life Watamote moment - last one was finding 'Twice-Cooked Pork' on a restaurant menu (it's delicious.) This time I went to a beach infested with Stingrays. And because I live in America and not Japan, I did not learn this by seeing a sign; I learned by getting stung. If they do a live-action Watamote Netflix movie set in the US (Death Note style,) that part of the story will end with everyone burying their feet in hot sand for almost three hours in a vain effort to mask the searing pain.
Now that walking is uncomfortable and I'm lying in bed, I'm thinking about re-reading/watching Welcome to the NHK. I admit I sort of avoid Nico Tanigawa's other works on purpose, to not overload or dilute the impact Watamote has; I'll read them someday, but not now. If you haven't seen Welcome to the NHK, it is *very* thematically/tonally close to Watamote, but quite different angle and a more plot-driven/dramatic (rather than slice-of-life) approach. It's nowhere near as thoughtfully crafted as Watamote IMO, but it has its intelligent points and it hits them. Curious what anyone thinks of it if they're familiar; it's been over ten years since I've watched/read it.
Good evening everyone, myself know it's dumb making an analysis of sport results in a manga of slice-of-life comedy, however I wanted to do it, I apologize with TheDoctorX if I didn't explain well myself in past times, you are free to question it or debate it if you like so.
There is also a "continity error" which I noticed while I was making this analysis, and I would like to know your opinion about it.
The school that Tomoko attends, Makuhari Shuuei High School.
Does anyone here go on the Reddit Discord for WataMote? I'm a regular there and it's pretty active, in case anyone was wondering.
