Synopsis

This is another chapter from Koharu Minami's perspective. The cover depicts a laughing Minami sitting on a railing outside of the school with Faced Sachi, Mako, and Yuri. Yuri and Mako's hair styles suggests this is from their first year. The narration reads: "fun is prioritized over correctness."

With animesque light, Minami peers in through a classroom door. She sees Miyazaki, Uchi, and Kayo chatting happily together. Emiri does notice her at the door. Minami concludes that "she is not there," then decides to return during lunch. At lunch, she sees Emiri sitting with Miyazaki, Kayo, Nagi, and Kaede. She notes that "she is not there," and wonders if she is sick. Behind her, Maki with her boyfriend pass. Minami calls out to Maki, but she ignores her and keeps walking. Her boyfriend asks her if she is okay with it, but she smiles and asks "with what?" Minami muses that she expected it from Nori but being ignored like this, but she trails off her musing to accept that it is because of the way they were, then concludes that she should forget about Sachi today.

Emiri interrupts her musings to ask her if she needs anything. Minami asks her if Sachi is in class today. In response to the nickname, Emiri asks if she means "Mima." She then adds that she thinks she did, then with a focus on her empty desk, Emiri suspects that she went off somewhere. When Emiri starts to leave, a sweating Minami stops her and asks did she not, when she made fun of "Kuroki," tell her to never show her face again. Emiri asks if she did, then adds that she forgot. She then explains to Minami that regarding "Kuroki" she sometimes behaves weird, and this should not bother Minami, because it does not bother her.

At their desks, Kayo and Kaede stare back at them. Kayo is surprised it is "Minami-chan," and Kaede wonders what they are chatting about. Over them, as chibi, Minami adds that in many ways Emiri's insult may have helped. When Chibi Emiri asks how, Minami replies with a pleasant smile bathed in animesque lens flair, that she called out to her. With a view of the "3-4" class sign, Minami continues that she did not think anyone in this class would want to talk to her anymore. Emiri curtly replies that she only talked to her because she does not care about her. Minami accepts this but insists that she would not have understood anything on her own. Emiri considers this, then adds that she hopes she can make up with "Mima."

Minami wanders the corridors thinking that Futaki mentioned that she saw Sachi in the area. She wonders if she really would be in such a place. She then muses, knowing Sachi's personality, she may have changed locations after Futaki discovered her. She discovers her without her face. Minami says her name, and Sachi observes that she has come and notes that "that (あれ・are)" spotted her. She continues that she wanted to find a place where she could be alone, but a surprising number of people come by, including a third-year boy came by yesterday as well. She then asks her why is she there: "You came to see the loner even though we're in separate classes?" Minami responds that she is correct, and Sachi demands to know what she wants. Minami pleasantly notes that Nori and Maki will not be there anymore and asks her if she wants to eat lunch together since she is alone.

Sachi smiles as she sarcastically declares her kind, then, acquiring her face, she adds that "Koharu-chan" is the last person she wants showing her pity. Without her face, she adds that she thought Minami would have brought her friend with her to tease her, but she is being nice instead. Minami confesses she thought of that, but since she is now above Sachi she has to be kind. Reacquiring her face, Sachi sarcastically replies that she loves how Minami can say what she truly thinks, but she insists that since what happened the other day, she feels refreshed inside and does not really need her anymore. Minami replies that she does not feel refreshed, and she thought she would ask if they could remain friends. Sachi insists that they cannot since she does not like it when Minami is not below her.

Minami asks her when she was ever above her. Sachi replies that Minami was a loner until a short time ago. Minami retorts that she has the cuter face which puts her on a higher level than Sachi. With her face smiling, Sachi insists that she has the slimmer body and Minami is fat. Minami stammers that her weight is average, but Sachi insists that "average weight" is still "fat." She then claims that her face is well-proportioned whereas Minami's teeth are crooked. Minami angrily retorts that "well-proportioned" just means that she has a face like a mask.

They pause for a moment, then Chibi Minami notes that they have badmouthed a lot of people, but this is the first time they have badmouthed one another. Losing her face, Sachi reminds her what Nori said: they badmouthed her behind her back. Minami insists that she means face-to-face. She then suggests that they are, technically, on even ground, and she asks Sachi if that would work for her. Regaining her face, Sachi insists that she not dare bring Shiki or those otaku with her. Minami agrees. With a view of the sky, Sachi concedes that "Makocchi" is fine, then adds Yuri. Minami asks her why she would include Yuri. Sachi explains that they were together as a group in their first year. Minami explains that she was against Yuri joining, but she just sort of showed up since she went to the same middle school.

With a view outside of the school to indicate a scene change, Hina brightly asks Tomoko about the movie and whether they should just do the bubble tea. Tomoko angrily demands that Hina not look at her like that. She then tells Yuri she planned to ask Shiki for help, she kept an eye on her, but the moment she took her eyes off of her, she disappeared. Tomoko desperately directs Yuri, Mako, and Hina in their search, but she is interrupted by Minami who informs them that Shiki is usually doing weight training in the second floor gymnasium. Tomoko thinks "Kibako" as the others stare at Minami.

She walks away as Tomoko asks Hina where the second floor gymnasium is located. Mako looks at her brightly and says, "Minami-san." Yuri stares at her. Tomoko summons Yuri to come with her.

• "A Faceless Girl has a Name": Emiri would not call Sachi by her first name or a nickname. Her correction to "Mima" (美馬) suggests that this is her surname, and it is the surname of a Lotte player as noted below. Stay tuned for why Minami uses "Sachi" as a nickname. WataMote Wiki will continue to call her "Sachi" until her name is clarified.
• As usual, Sachi's surname, Mima, is shared with the Chiba Lotte Marines’ pitcher, Manabu Mima.
• "That": in keeping with WataMote's tradition, Sachi actually says "that" as indicated by the furigana over the face of Shiki rather than kanji. Later, she says the adnominal version (あの) over a Chibi Shiki.
