Synopsis

Sometime during the evening, Mrs. Kuroki gives Tomoko some money to buy food. The next day, she asks Yuri if she would like to eat at the cafeteria with her, but Tomoko ends up going alone. Tomoko ends up sitting with no one, which she feels is weirder than being alone in a classroom.

Her anxiety kicks in, and she feels the need to change her self-image. Soon after, Hina spots her and asks if her group can sit. Tomoko is startled and answers hastily, with bits of food all over herself.

She originally planned to sit quietly and eat her udon, but Kiyota starts talking to her. He says he has respect for her, as she can sit here all alone but he doesn't have the guts to do the same. Tomoko merely sees this as pity. Kiyota brings up some common topics to include Tomoko in the conversation, but Tomoko doesn't like this. She feels it was easier when she resented all of them, but after learning what they did wasn't out of spite she doesn't hate them anymore. Tomoko believes they're all denying their true selves in order to be normal.

Kiyota asks what Tomoko usually does for fun at home, but she figures she can't reply with her real hobbies except for anime, which she knows Hina is also interested in. However, when Tomoko talks about anime Hina has a lukewarm reaction.

Kiyota remembers Ogino talking about some student wanting to be a voice actor (a goal he admires). Okada mentions that Hina might be into that kind of thing, but Hina immediately denies it. Feeling guilty that she brought up the topic in the first place, Tomoko says she wanted to be a voice actress and talks about some violent anime.

Near the end of school, Hina says she noticed what Tomoko did. Hina suggests they talk about anime when they're alone, as she doesn't feel comfortable bringing it up with the others. Tomoko feels that openly being a nerd is better than being a normal person and hiding your true interests.
