Synopsis[]
Notice and Apology (おわびとお知らせ・owabi to oshirase)[]
The Author and Artist explain that the release of Chapter 189 has been delayed a week. This current chapter is something they already prepared but were uncertain on the timing of its release. They note that one panel was redrawn, and they formally ask the readers to treat them kindly.
Conversations and Topics (会話と話題・kaiwa to wadai)[]
Tomoko sits nexts to Yuri after school at the train station. Behind Yuri, an unidentified female student sits alone. The cover page has the smaller title "Special Edition (特別編・tokubetsuhen)." Tomoko poses the question to Yuri that if boys want to be "macho (マッチョ・maccho)," what do girls want to be? The question surprises Yuri. Tomoko continues that while quite a few guys will strive to become body builders, they are not very popular with women. She adds that the "slim, macho types (細マッチョ・hosomaccho) are, though."
She then asks if there is anything that women want to be that is not popular with guys. Yuri suggests perhaps women who diet until they are "skin and bones." She adds that it is said that guys prefer girls on the "chubby (ぽっちゃり・pocchari) side." Tomoko muses that when a guy says "chubby" it is not a big deal, then she continues that despite the health risks, slim girls are still more popular than macho guys. When entertainers claim they like chubby girls, Tomoko explains, all of the hot actors still end up dating and marrying girls who look like models.
While she accepts this, Yuri admits that she really does not understand Tomoko's point. She asks if macho guys are not popular. Tomoko asks her if she like them; Yuri insists that she does not. Tomoko note that everyone goes "Kyā Kyā (キャー)" when they appear on television. There is a vision of a male bodybuilder's chest with "Kyā" and "Let me touch!" and "So hard!!" being shouted. Yuri retorts that just because they get "Kyā Kyā'd" does not mean they are popular.
With a vision of Tomoko entering her classroom muscular and ripped beyond description, Tomoko poses that if she became massive tomorrow and showed up in class, everyone would go Kyā Kyā for various reasons, but they would hate it. Yuri agrees. Tomoko then asks, putting the "machos" aside, what the female equivalent of bodybuilding would be. Yuri suggests doing nails, but Tomoko finds that weak. Yuri then suggests weight training which is popular, even among women. Tomoko retorts that women weight train mainly for dieting. Yuri asks if it is striving for a body type that Japanese people normally do not have: "like a Barbie doll?" Tomoko deems that close but not quite the same.

Tomoko gets up and notes that her train has arrived. She assigns Yuri thinking of an answer as her "homework." Yurin insists that she does not think about worthless crap at home.
After Tomoko leaves, Yuri placed in her earphones as the scene shifts to show that the girl sitting behind her is Sachi with a face.
Without a face, she sits with Minami, Nori, and Maki having lunch, with Emiri seen nearby. Sachi claims that "machos" creep her out, but then asks what the female equivalent of a guy wanting to be "macho" is. Minami suggests that it is girls who are just skin and bones. Nori playfully protests that she likes "machos." Maki corrects her that she is thinking of the slim machos.

Referbacks[]
- The Faceless Women: the trio of Sachi, Nori, and Maki have been drawn without faces. In the previous chapter, Sachi first reveals her actual face when she sees Minami interact with, in her own words, "creeps." The reason for her acquisition then removal of her face remains unexplained in this chapter. Valar morghulis. . . .
- "I'm the same as her": In Chapter 136, Yuri was sullen in depression after thinking she was like Koharu for not sharing the like for certain manga. In this chapter, both Koharu and Yuri agree in that the ideal girl who is not actually desired are those ones who diet to being all skin and bones, this happens without none have idea from each other.
Cultural References[]
- "I'm a Barbie girl, in the Barbie World": WataMote Wiki probably does not have to explain the reference, censored in the Japanese Original, but Mattel did release a number of dolls in Japan, including the Princess of Japan , Japanese Barbie[® – Ed.] and Happy New Year dolls.
Trivia[]
- "Life in Plastic, it's Fantastic": While Yuri is correct that Japanese girls do not fit the "Barbie[® – Ed.] Proportions," no woman of any culture or reality can. There are a number of links, but this one from Penn State includes the reference from one of the original studies.
Memorable Moments[]
- "Valar Dohaeris": Sachi has a face when sitting behind Yuri.
