No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys' Fault I’m Not Popular!
Synopsis[]
This chapter continues from the previous and is divided into titled sections.
Mako Maku (真子まく・Makomaku)[1][]
In the hallway, Mako asks Yuri to return to the classroom since she has some business. This elicits an "E?" from Yuri, who then insists that she will go with her. Concerned Chibi Mako thinks that only today she tries to cling to her like she used to. With a focus of a sign from the History Club advertising the history of Makuhari, Mako suggests that they look at the exhibition. They begin at a display that describes that Makuhari started as a landfill. Mako eagerly suggests that they will understand the history of Makuhari, but she moves very quickly from display to display while Yuri tries to read.
At the exit of the classroom, Yuri calls out to her. With her perpetual smile, Mako declares that they understand the history. Yuri retorts that at that speed, she only understand that the history is short.
I Must Leave (帰るしかない・kaerushikanai)[]
Yuri insists that Mako is trying to ditch her; Mako denies this, but she inwardly wonders if she should be honest. She brightly admits that she is meeting Mima-san and asks if will she come. Yuri sheepishly looks away. Mako brightly continues that "Minami-san" may be there as well.
Yuri walks away down the corridor; Mako smiles.
Erotic and Grotesque (エログロ・eroguro)[]

Shown: Asuka gets a facial . . . *snicker . . . snicker*
Former Class Rep stands next to an Anonymous-chan whilst to other Anonymous-chans wait at the entrance of a "haunted house." Inside, Tomoko walks with Asuka. Tomoko stares with wonder whilst Asuka regards her with a smile. Tomoko marvels inwardly that her pupils have dilated in the dark, and that the familiar pounding in the dark makes her sexually aroused.[2] A student dressed as a corpse creature reaches out at their feet causing Tomoko to emit an "Uuū?!!" and Asuka a "KyaA?!" Beaming brightly, Asuka places her hands on Tomoko's right shoulder as she soothes, "Ahahaha, I screamed." Tomoko forces a smile as she thinks, "Darkness. Physical Contact."
Suddenly, a konnyaku strikes Asuka in the face, which elicits a "Kyā?!" As Asuka wipes her face in a manner that WataMote insists has no prurient subtext, Tomoko thinks a complex pun on "facial."[3] Asuka smiles and remarks, "It's amazingly slippery and smells fishy . . .[4]. . . maybe I need to fix my makeup. . . ."
A "ghost" then appears. Tomoko continues to stare wide eyed. They then pass a table with three heads. One looks at her. As Tomoko regards the head with Asuka, Tomoko rationalizes that because her sexual desire is high, the severed heads look erotic.
At the exit, Miho, happily, congratulates them. Beaming, Asuka insists it was scary, and Miho agrees. With her arms folded, Fūka suggests to Tomoko that it must have been very scary since it incorporated her ideas. Anna smiles as she crouches between them. Tomoko matter-of-factly responds that there were so many "horror"[5] scenes and places where her hips[6] went out, she was glad. "That's like a porn[7] video review, right?" Anna retorts. Tomoko continues that since it was the first "store front style" horror she has seen in a long time, she was excited, "the moment I walked in, it was pitch black, and I struck a heroic pose inside." Fūka stares at her with a silent "?" while Anna responds, "sex service review?"
Eat While Watching (見ながら食う・minagarakū)[]

On stage and in his girl's costume from the Be Cool be Fool film,[8] Wada extends his left leg out in a pose. The audience screams, "Kya!" and "Erotic!" The announcer cheers, "That's Wada-kun's appeal!" The next panel shows him standing next to an Anonymous Cross-Dresser on stage with the announcer continuing to rhetorically ask which of the cross-dressers[9] will be the finalist for tomorrow's Haramaku preliminary round and asks for applause. Sitting together, Girl with Left Ponytail cheers "Wada-kun's cute!"; Not Sachi-Chan claps next to Oka; while Suzuki sits in somewhat shocked silence. Next to him, another boy claps for "Wada-san."
In the next panel, Koharu stands munching on her popcorn next to Shiki who claps, who is next to Kakinuma who quietly claps. Shiki turns to Kakinuma, who is revealed to be next to Hirotaka, and says, "I've got an unreleased video that shows the inside of his skirt. Wanna watch it?" Kakinuma reacts with shock and sweat, and Hirotaka sweats with a verbalized, "?!" Still sweating, Kakinuma emphatically denies, then tells her not to say what Reina and Anna would say.[10] Hirotaka thinks, "wait, I want to see. . . ." Shiki giggles.
Kakinuma turns to Koharu, who is still munching on her popcorn, and demands to know what she is thinking and to say something.
More relaxed, Suzuki approaches Wada notes that it was an easy win. Wada replies, "you're kind of close." The two then observe two Anonymous Blushing Chans squealing "Kya!" at them. Suzuki explains that he will be very popular if he is close to Wada. Wada emits an "A-."
The two startle as they notice something: both Koharu and Shiki are intently staring at them, with Shiki also rapidly eating popcorn from Koharu's bag. Wada asks Suzuki what the two are feeling when they stare at them.
"Don't know."
Sachi-chan (サチちゃん)[]
Faced Sachi stares at her phone. Mako arrives with a cup of coffee, hands it to the Faceless Sachi, and apologizes for making her wait. Faceless Sachi thanks her, then notes that, unlike "Koharu-chan," she is attentive. With a view of Koharu smiling as she munches popcorn surrounded by flowers, Chibi Mako asks about "Minami-san"; Faceless Chibi Sachi replies that she does not know, but she is probably gaining weight somewhere. Mako marvels at Sachi implying that Koharu lives to be fat. Chibi Mako continues to note that Sachi wanted advice. Faceless Chibi Sachi acknowledges this. With her face, as she sips the coffee, she states that she wants to asks about "that one."[11] "That one?" Mako repeats. With a view of their legs, Sachi explains that when they were in the same class, she was alone, but now she is with Mako and Yuri, and yesterday, it was the same. "A-, Kuroki-san?" Mako asks.

Shown: Mako's Perpetual Smile™
With her face, Sachi continues, "That's right. That one and Tomoki's relationship, do you know about it?" Mako emits an "E?!" then thinks whilst maintaining her Perpetual Smile™ should she call them siblings. However, she continues to think that since it seems like an important thing, she is not sure it should come from her. Sachi stares back at her with a "?!" as Mako continues to muse, "I mean, I thought you'd've figured it out by now." Faced Chibi Sachi glares at Mako and her Perpetual Smile™ and thinks, "Makocchi's face. . . . A cruel yet gentle look, as if looking at some pitiful creature." The next panel focuses on her face as she continues to inwardly complain, "I've seen these eyes before somewhere... That's right, those are the eyes Makocchi sometimes has when she looks at Koharu-chan!! Is someone like Makocchi looking at me like a pig?![12]"
Without her face, Sachi relaxes, smiles, and leans against the wall next to Mako. She lies that she was just kidding and already knows. Mako smiles back and accepts this. However, as a Faceless Chibi, Sachi inwardly and angrily repeats Mako's phrases: "'That's good?' 'Right?'" and continues, "Is that the level of the problem?!" With her face she looks ahead and wonders if it is a simple answer based on their previous conversation as she also thinks:
- Tomoki . . . soccer club
- Tamura Yoshida . . .
- Dating an older person
- Going inside his home. . .
- Loner[13] . . . Kuroki
In a final panel that justifies Galleries, Sachi looks at Mako with a sketchy Koharu next to her having Sachi's eyes[14] and the two sharing an expression. She explains that Tomoki met Tomoko when Tomoko was a loner like she was when Tomoki met her. Mako shows a bit of surprise, and a Faceless Chibi Sachi inwardly swears.

Referbacks[]
- "You on LINE": Mako and Sachi have been privately conversing on LINE as seen on Chapter 219. At the end of that chat, Sachi asked Mako to meet up to discuss a thing about "that guy." This chapter confirms that Sachi wanted to know about Tomoko and her relationship with Tomoki.
- Yuri Gets Dumped: Mako has been willing to ditch or avoid Yuri when dealing with Masaki, as she did on Chapter 214-2. In this chapter, she tries to ditch Yuri to talk with Sachi.
- "Haters Gonna Hate!": In Chapter 205 where Sachi interrupts Mako and Yuri at the bookstore café, Yuri tolerated her and was pleased when she badmouthed Koharu. In this chapter, when Mako admits to Yuri that she will meet Sachi, Yuri hesitates, but when Mako then adds she may meet Koharu, Yuri walks away. WataMote Wiki finds it interesting that Yuri seems more repulsed by Koharu than Sachi.
- "A mojyo accomplishes her promises": in 217-2, Asuka asked Tomoko where they should go do during the school festival, since all class 3-5 was free for the moment, which Tomoko suggested they could go to check the events made by people from the other classes that helped them with the movie, however, this plan was put off for Masaki's insistence of going along to Tomoki's play. So once finished the play, Tomoko went with Asuka to the teacup ride from class 3-4 in 218, and now they're together when entering the haunted house from class 3-6. Therefore, there's a big chance that Tomoko goes to check Korean cafe made by class 1-7 where Shizuku belongs to.
- "Always watching you, Tomo-chan": if well it's true that along the series, Asuka has shown a big fixation on Tomoko, it's also impossible to unnotice this attention outstands more in these recent chapters. In Chapter 214-3, when thre crowd leaves the spa to go to school, it seems Asuka looks Tomoko; in middle of the play during Chapter 217-2, when the rest of the students were watching the play from class 2-4, Asuka was looking Tomoko who was all flushed in the moment; in WataMote Chapter 220-1, despite Emiri's intervention who got on to ride along in the teacup attraction, Asuka was still looking Tomoko; and now in this chapter, when the two of them went to the haunted house from class 3-6, and Tomoko was immersing in the scary environment, Asuka was still looking her in middle of the darkness, it's more, she put her hands in her shoulder.
- "Your screams are my ambrosia": Asuka had already shown delighted for Tomoko's screams, this seen in Chapter 120, where after burning the grilled meat and screaming for it, Asuka told her that was quite a scream.
- "A konnyaku to
arousescare": in Chapter 213-3, Reina mentioned her job during haunted house even from her class was to scare people with a konnyaku that she helf from a string, an element of which Tomoko did sexual subtext, and that led to an awkward discussion between girls hearing. - "How to say vulgar stuff with an innocent face 101": in Chapter 150, after Tomoko unburied an antlion and gave it to Asuka, she described it as kinda wrinkly, but round and squishy too. Now Asuka does something similar after being slapped by konnyaku on face.
- "A too hairy mood": when Fūka asked for ideas to improve the haunted house from her class in Chapter 210-3, Tomoko suggested that they could use black wigs to get easy scares, at the end, the class 3-6 ended up using this idea with a few additions.
- "And that was Wada-kun's appeal": Wada mentioned in Chapter 217-2 that Yoshinori told him how he should participate in the crossdressing contest, which Suzuki mentioned him how he'd win easily.
- "A growing tension between the fanged girl and the otaku boy?": it's been seen few of the dynamic between Koharu and Kakinuma, beginning with her calling him weak for losing against Shiki in Chapter 188, later in Chapter 199-2, when Koharu tries to apologize with him and Hirotaka after incident at Arcade, this flops because for fear of Sachi seeing them, Koharu pulls from their ties to drag them and hide, which didn't work to not being seen by Hina and Akane, which made Kakinuma worried of whatever Hina thought of him, something that Koharu didn't take in a good way; during the production of movie in Chapter 210-2, after Sachi made fun of Kakinuma and Hirotaka before possibility of them fapping to footage, and Koharu mentioned it together with asking what fapping means, this caused Kakinuma get enraged; this incident is enlarged in Volume 23 Omake, where Kakinuma pointed at how girls also masturbate as boys, this creeped Koharu out.
- ""That girl" has a name, did you know that, Sachi?": Sachi still refers Tomoko in a despective way, as seen in Chapter 218, when she asked Tomoki if "that girl" was his firs kiss, being put in Japanese the "aitsu (アイツ)", which Sachi does again by asking Mako what relationship Tomoko has with Tomoki, but this time the "aitsu" is written with "あいつ".
- "What does his last name matter? The only important thing is the sport": In Chapter 217-1, when Sayaka got up on stage to announce the play made by the class 2-4, she described how "Soccer Club Ace Kuroki Tomoki-kun and 2-4's Idol Iguchi Akari-san also have a love scene". In this chapter it's revealed that Sachi retained the information of Tomoki being in the socccer club, however she either forgot or did not pay attention to the fact his last name is Kuroki.
Cultural References[]
- 男の娘 "Male Daughter": WataMote Wiki finds the pun interesting. "Otoko no ko" (男の子) is a male child. 娘 (musume) is "daughter."
- Rotten Girls (腐女子・Fujoshi): Girls who love their yaoi. Does Hirotaka wanting to see under Wada's skirt make him a "rotten boy (腐男子・Fudanshi)?" WataMote Wiki does not judge.
Trivia[]
- Mako Tanaka Speaks for the Fans: despite the obvious clues, Sachi is still unable to deduce Tomoko and Tomoki are siblings, and whether or not it is Nico Tanigawa's intention, Mako says what many in Fandom™ are thinking.
Memorable Moments[]
- "Sachi failed so many wisdom checks the analogy is starting to fall apart": Once again, Sachi fails to recognise that Tomoko and Tomoki are siblings despite all the evidence being presented to her. This time around though, she's aware she messed up her answer (probably).
- Rotten Girls: are Koharu and Shiki turned on by boy love?

References[]
- ↑ This appears a pun: "Maku" can refer to "Makuhari," but it can also refer to a number of kanji with the same sound that can mean to "scatter, evade, shake off," et cetera.
- ↑ 性的興奮 (seitekikōfun): sexual arousal
- ↑ Tomoko thinks the kanji 顔蒻 which combines "face" with "water plant." She actually thinks the furigana "がんにゃ(く)" [gannya(ku)] as a pun on konnyaku.
- ↑ WataMote Wiki does not even. . . .
- ↑ Tomoko uses puns. "H" normally represents "erotic," but the furigana is ホラー (horā).
- ↑ Tomoko puts her hips (腰) in parenthesis.
- ↑ "AV"
- ↑ Available on VHS.
- ↑ 男の娘 (otoko no ko): See the Cultural References.
- ↑ See Gallery.
- ↑ Translation Note: Sachi uses あいつ (aitsu), whichi is a rude way to refer to someone. It can, and has, been understood as "that bitch," but that is probably too harsh a translation for the situation, particularly since Mako repeats the term.
- ↑ Translation Note: As per WataMote fashion, Sachi says the furigana for "pig" (ブタ・buta) over the kanji and hiragana for "Koharu-chan (小春ちゃん)."
- ↑ ぼっち (bocchi)
- ↑ ". . . lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. . . ."
